Last Friday we hosted an informal presentation by Dr Michael Walker, the founder of the Fraser Institute.  Dr Walker has stepped down from the Institute, but retains a keen interest in economics.  At the presentation, he outlined his recent research on the low interest rate regime.  There is a strong correlation between demographics and interest rates.  His “conjecture” is that low interest rates are the new normal.  His analysis and research point to the strong possibility of lower rates in the future.

"You know as I start down the twilight years of my life, I try and look back and figure out, whati it uis all about? I'm still not sure what is meanty by good fortune and success. I know fame and power are really for the birds. And then, life suddently comes into focus and there stand my kids. And I love them. No matter what you have done for yourself or humanity, if you haven't given love and attention to your family, I ask you, what have you really accomplished? " ~Lee Iacocca, Straight Talk
